It was Sunday, October 18, 2015. Ten weeks before their big day.
It was an exceptionally, beautiful fall day. The clear, blue, sky and the vibrant oranges, reds and yellows of autumn made a spectacular canvas to display an engagement.
We had a great time capturing this couple. Their love for one another was as vivid as the fall colors.
On Sunday, December 6, 2015, three weeks before their wedding, I received a text message from the bride stating our photography services were no longer needed because the groom had suddenly passed away.
When loved ones pass away, memories are all that is left. As a photographer, there have been countless times when I have been at celebratory events and guests refuse to have their portrait captured. I’ve also had portrait sessions where clients barely want to crack a smile (you would think we were trying to pull teeth instead of capturing them in a smile).

Ernest and LaRita seized the moment and took their photos [happily]. As a result, we were able to create a photo book (see below) using the images from the session for LaRita to cherish and remember the beautiful, fall day that she and Ernest shared together.
Don’t deny your loved ones memories. When you have the opportunity to have your photo taken, whether alone or with family and/or friends, take the photo. You never know when memories will be the only thing that is left.
